A sample from the faux pas wall

Every example here is a composite, never a real post from a named person. The full wall, with all twenty seven and the graduate submission channel, is inside the masterclass.

Announcement
An announcement with no information in it

Say the thing. Name the company, name the job, say what you will actually be doing. One useful sentence beats four grateful ones.

Link dump
Handing over homework

Give your own line first. What in it surprised you, and why the room should care. Then the link.

The instant pitch
The instant pitch

Do nothing for a month. Read what they post. Comment twice. The pitch, if there ever is one, writes itself later and from their side.

Corporate voice
Speaking press release in a bar

Say it as you would to a friend who asked what you do all day. If you would be embarrassed to say it out loud, do not type it.

Using people
Using a person as a prop

If the story is not yours to tell, it is not content. Tell one where you are the person who got it wrong.

Engagement bait
Manufacturing a conversation you have no intention of having

Ask a real question you actually want answered, and then answer everybody who replies. That is a conversation. The other thing is a turnstile.
